Planned Parenthood Center of El Paso

Social Services

Planned Parenthood Center of El Paso’s Social Service programs play a major role in improving the lives of people affected by HIV/AIDS. These programs have been instrumental in meeting the social, medical, and unmet financial needs of Persons Living with HIV/AIDS and their families.

Ryan White Case Management Services provide a link between HIV-positive individuals and medical and social services provided by PPCEP and other community providers.  Case managers complete a psychosocial assessment for each eligible person to identify his or her needs.  Case managers coordinate the client’s overall social service delivery plan through client-centered education and assessments.  Case managers work closely with clients to access services through Social Security, Medicaid and other entitlement programs.

Services for Underserved Emerging Populations (UEP) provides intensive case management and nutritional services to West Texas women living with HIV/AIDS. Case managers meet with clients through home visits, office visits, and by telephone.  Additionally, the staff conducts educational and nutritional workshops to help increase clients’ skills in regard to problem-solving, communicating with partner(s) or potential partners, and to increase their level of knowledge regarding their nutritional intake of food items and supplements.   Clients are encouraged to incorporate healthier eating habits into their lifestyles and improve their overall quality of life through monthly educational workshops developed specifically to help meet their needs.

Early Access Services is designed to educate, empower and assist individuals who are newly diagnosed or living with HIV/AIDS, or have medication adherence problems or nutritional deficiencies associated with the HIV disease. Specialized case management services are offered aimed at helping clients maintain optimal health and quality of life.  Through education sessions, clients learn about medical, primary care, treatment information, understanding HIV/AIDS, nutrition, health and wellness, human sexuality and legal matters.  Clients also receive nutritional assessments and vouchers to purchase nutritional food items.

Ryan White Title II Emergency Financial Assistance Program provides limited funds to help clients in need of assistance with utility payments.

Ryan White Title II Health Insurance Assistance Program – Health insurance premium payment services are available to clients who have lost their jobs and are offered insurance coverage by their employer through the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985 (COBRA).  Clients who successfully obtain Risk Pool health insurance are also eligible.  This program will pay the client’s monthly COBRA or Risk Pool premiums.  Funds are limited per client and per month for combined health insurance premiums, deductibles, and co-payments.

Ryan White Medication Assistance Program is designed as a long-term and emergency medication assistance program.  The program supplies the financial support necessary for the purchase of HIV/AIDS and other medications critical to the patient’s health.  The Medication Program is the payer of last resort; thus, client data is required to approve a client for the program.  Necessary data includes: existing client health benefits, proof of residency and proof of income.  For more information regarding the Ryan White Medication Assistance Program call the Medication Program Coordinator at (915)544-8195.
