The Desert
Rainbow Center (DRC) offers accessible
community space for activities and services
designed to strengthen and enrich the lives of
all community members. The DRC is a convenient
place where community members can gather, meet,
share common interests, and learn. Resources
available at the DRC include a library, computer
center, multimedia services, and meeting space
for groups. Services include HIV prevention
education, testing, and referral, case
management for individuals living with or
affected by HIV/AIDS, and discussion and support
groups. Community education programs are
available on a variety of topics including a
special program for young fathers that promotes
responsible parenting.

Helen Gillett
Library and Resource Center – The library
and resource center, funded in part by the
National Library of Medicine, maintains an
extensive print and video library that is
available to the community. The Center’s
collection relates to human sexuality,
contraception, teen pregnancy, sexually
transmitted diseases, HIV/AIDS, women’s and
men’s health, relationships, and communication
with children about sensitive topics. The
library also maintains two special collections.
One specifically devoted to gay, lesbian, and
transgender issues and the other for monolingual
Spanish speakers. The Center has a
computer lab where community members can access
computers, software programs, scanners, printers
and Internet services. Users can utilize
these resources for research, work or fun,

Entertainment and
Meeting Rooms
– The Center has conference facilities and a
recreation room with a big screen television.
Ongoing events include Friday night movies,
games, and community and support group
